MOUNTAIN
HALF-DAY TRIP (morning) (Mount at 9:50 a.m.)
These trips are the most beautiful rides in the world! The trails are
steep, but not dangerous. We ride up onto the high mountain ridges and
down into the deep ravines. We usually see wildlife and even in late
summer there are still wild-flowers blooming up that high! These rides
are fantastic! We conduct our rides to satisfy the desires of our
guests which include things like rate of travel. In most cases,
however, there will be some trotting on the morning rides.

MOUNTAIN HALF-DAY TRIP
(afternoon) (Mount at 1:30 p.m.)
Numerous different areas are
offered on the afternoon trips. These areas range from high mountain
steep trails to low mountain and meadow trails. They can follow the
streams that flow down from the Continental Divide or they can travel
back into the heavy forests.
Because of the vast area, your guide
will strive to give you the type of trip that you want, including how
much time you actually want to spend in the saddle. The actual time on
the afternoon ride is often a little longer, and we spend a little more
time enjoying the beautiful country and taking pictures.
During mid-summer, the livestock are
sometimes moved from one grazing area to another; although infrequent,
if the guests so desire, there are times that they will actually help
move cattle. (If they choose) |

EVENING RIDE (Mount at 5:00 p.m.) Six days a week the Diamond 'P' Ranch offers an evening
ride which starts
at 5:00 p.m.; we try to be back by 7:00 p.m. This ride is not as vigorous nor as long as the 1/2 day
rides. On Thursdays, Fridays, and
Saturdays, some choose to attend the Wild West Yellowstone Rodeo after
this ride. |

FALL RIDE The trips after
Labor Day, are a totally different experience! The fall rides are
ablaze with glorious color, the rapid, rushing water of many of the
creeks has
slowed and the streams are easy to cross. We usually do not ride
up on to the
mountainous, shale rock peaks. The boggy portions of the meadows
have
firmed up and the horse's footing is sound. We usually move at a slower
pace, taking lots
of time to take pictures. This is the mating season of some
of the area's wildlife; we might even hear some of the mating calls on
the fall rides! There is only one fall ride each day and is structured
to fit the needs of the
group, if we have some extra adventurous groups, we can mold this ride
to be as challenging as you want.

The Halo
'A' Ranch, a beautiful ranch which is
located on the Middle Branch of
the Fall
River,
is the home ranch for the Halo Ranch Outfitters. It's on the Idaho side of the Continental Divide. click
on: Halo 'A' Ranch The guides and
wranglers saddle the horses at the Halo Ranch barn, and then trailer
them to the many
different trail-heads. The majority of our trail-heads are near the Juniper Mountains and high country ranges that
compose the
Idaho Fish and Game hunting unit #60. All rides are all-day
excursions.
The fantastic areas that we ride in are remote. The majority of the
Halo Ranch
rides are in the spring before the snow completely melts in the higher
mountains. These rides are very popular with
the local schools. Four of the Halo Ranch Outfitters are
certified school
teachers and two of these teachers have masters degrees in Biological
Science! Because of our educator guides, biology field trips are
also
offered. Most schools, however, just bring their students for an
exciting, invigorating horseback ride.
